Application of Laser Ranging Sensor in Automatic Pedestrian Avoidance System

Previously, several media reported that Nissan Automobile Company had successfully developed an automatic pedestrian avoidance system. The system consists of a camera and five laser ranging sensors. It can sense obstacles within 20 meters on both sides of the car, 150 meters in front of the car and 70 meters behind the car. Once pedestrians suddenly appear in front of the car, the system automatically controls the steering wheel and takes evasive action. It can not only avoid pedestrians, but also avoid collision with other vehicles. At present, the automatic brake safety system has been developed and loaded on some vehicles. The steering wheel control system developed in this paper can solve traffic accidents that can not be prevented by brakes, and it is advanced in technology.

In view of this, this paper introduces another TOF Laser Ranging Sensor. The laser ranging sensor is a high-precision ranging sensor which uses laser phase method to measure the distance of objects. Its response speed is high. The TOF laser sensor of JRT has a response speed of up to 200 Hz and a measurement distance of up to 15 meters. The sensor can measure distance without reflecting mirror, and the filter can also measure the distance of high temperature objects. It has a wide range of applications, such as container positioning, elevator operation measurement, electrified railway catenary measurement and so on.
