IP Classification of Sensors


IP stands for ingress protection, indicating the degree to which an instrument can prevent impurities from intruding in different levels. The IP grade system developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) incorporates IEC529 to provide guidance on the protection of instruments. It also provides more information for reference when purchasing instruments to ensure that a test instrument can work normally within the calibration range. IP level will appear in almost all product files.

The IP protection level is composed of two numbers. The first number represents the level of dust-proof and intrusion-proof of electrical appliances (the objects referred to here contain tools, human fingers, etc. can not touch the live part of electrical appliances in order to avoid electric shock). The second number represents the degree of sealing of moisture-proof and waterproof immersion of electrical appliances. The larger the number is, the larger the table is. The higher the level of protection.

The protection level is usually expressed by two numbers followed by IP, which are used to define the protection level.
